Plot

A film begins within 1882 with Oscar Wilde's visit to Leadville, Colorado during his lecture tour in America. It describes his marriage, his wit, his homosexuality and his popularity, before depicting his downfall from either his prosecution for gross indecency and his time around prison. It finishes using Wilde & Lord Alfred Douglas (Bosie) meeting fallowing Wilde has left prison.

Its frankness all about Wilde's homosexualism, together with love scenes, has made a film somewhat renowned & typically controversial.

Inside the like terrible pun, Fry is said to have been "born to be Wilde".
